The US and Saudi Arabia launched joint strikes against Iran-aligned groups in Iraq on Wednesday, following a surprise ballistic missile attack by Iran on US military installations in Jordan.
Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces reported at least 20 fighters killed and 32 wounded across seven provinces, including Baghdad, Basra, and Kirkuk, during the US-Saudi military operation.
The US justified the strikes by claiming Iran-aligned groups carried out 30 drone attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure within a 72-hour window, prompting an emergency security meeting by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.
