Former Teacher Cleared of Ban Despite Professional Boundary Violations

The Teaching Regulation Agency decided against a prohibition order for James Bees, a former maths teacher at The Stanway School, despite finding him guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.

The panel found Bees sent excessive personal messages to two pupils between March 2020 and March 2021, including late-night calls and inappropriate comments, though it ruled out sexual motivation.

The decision, dated August 17, concluded that publishing the findings was a proportionate response, noting the teacher had shown remorse and completed training on professional boundaries.
