The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has scheduled a nationwide strike for September 11, 2026, to protest the delay in implementing a five-day banking week and issues regarding performance-linked incentives.
The strike involves nine bank employees' and officers' unions, with the UFBU threatening a continuous indefinite strike starting October 26 if their four-point charter of demands remains unaddressed.
The Finance Ministry has placed the 2025-26 performance-linked incentive scheme in abeyance following discussions with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, while banking services face potential disruptions through September 14.
