A nationwide ground report by The Times of India has uncovered widespread infrastructure failures in government schools, including leaking buildings, absent teachers, and a lack of basic sanitation facilities.
Specific findings include Chhattisgarh having over 1,000 schools without separate girls' toilets, while Punjab faces a 25% vacancy rate in teaching positions despite a ₹2,300 crore upgrade initiative.
The report highlights that while Himachal Pradesh has achieved 100% toilet coverage, only 36% of its schools have smart classrooms, with Kerala identified as the sole exception maintaining consistent public investment.
