The Supreme Court on October 1, 2026, sought responses from the Union government and West Bengal regarding a petition filed by Krishnanagar MP Mahua Moitra.
Moitra alleged that State authorities and police used mobs and goons to impede her access to her constituency after the BJP came to power in May 2026.
A Bench of Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to file counter-affidavits to the petition.
