Ferry Capsizes Off Northern Cyprus Coast Leaving Seven Dead

A ferry carrying nearly 270 passengers and crew capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus on August 30, resulting in at least seven confirmed deaths and over 172 successful rescues.

The vessel was travelling from the port of Kyrenia to Tasucu in Turkey when it began taking on water approximately four miles offshore, according to local reports.

Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel confirmed that rescue and health services are currently conducting ongoing operations to locate missing individuals, while the cause of the capsizing remains unknown.
