US federal prosecutors arrested California technology company owner Greg Lui, 38, on October 1 and charged him in a three-count indictment over a scheme to smuggle over $300 million in export-controlled computer servers with US-made GPUs to China.
Investigators allege Lui used Earthmade Computer Inc. and third countries like Malaysia and Singapore between 2023 and 2024, submitting false documents to bypass US export licenses and receiving over $176 million from Malaysian shipment companies.
Lui faces counts of export-control violations, smuggling, and money laundering, carrying statutory maximum sentences of up to 20 years if convicted, while authorities stress he is presumed innocent.
