The Pentagon announced that former U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan will be executed by firing squad, marking the first such military execution in over 60 years.
Hasan shot and killed 13 unarmed U.S. soldiers and injured 32 others in a 2009 attack at Fort Hood, Texas, before being convicted by court-martial.
The execution order was recommended by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and approved by President Donald Trump under reinstated federal capital punishment rules.
