Himalayan Glacier Collapse Kills 359 in Nepal and Tibet

A massive glacier collapse in Tibet on Wednesday triggered a deadly flood that killed at least 359 people and left over 1,300 missing across the Nepal-China border region.

The surge destroyed 19 bridges and 40km of road, with the Trishuli river rising 9 metres in 30 minutes after a magnitude 5.2 seismic event caused by the landslide.

Rescue operations remain hampered by difficult terrain in Rasuwa district, while officials warn the death toll will likely rise as search teams navigate submerged areas like Syapru Besi.
