Gael Monfils Wins US Open Match on 40th Birthday

Gael Monfils became the oldest man to win a US Open main-draw match in 34 years by defeating Adolfo Daniel Vallejo on his 40th birthday.

The Frenchman secured a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0 victory, marking his 131st Grand Slam match win and extending his record for the most wins by a French player.

Monfils, who is playing in his 18th and final US Open, will face 14th seed Learner Tien in the second round of the tournament.
