THE BRIEF
1

CBSE has mandated that students from Class IX onwards study three languages, with at least two being native Indian languages, effective from July 1, 2026.

2

The board clarified that there will be no Class X board examination for the third language, which will be assessed internally by schools.

3

The current batch of Class X students remains unaffected, and the first batch to face board-level examinations in the third language will be the Class VI students in 2031.
