Congo Reports Record Weekly Ebola Deaths

Eastern Congo recorded 317 Ebola deaths in the past week, bringing the total outbreak count to 5,514 cases and 2,642 deaths as of Saturday.

The current outbreak has a 47.9 percent fatality rate, though North Kivu province reports a significantly higher rate of 68.6 percent.

Health officials received 16,000 doses of the Ervebo vaccine on Friday, which will be used in clinical trials to combat the rare Bundibugyo virus strain.
