Eleven Tribals Arrested in West Bengal Over Border Land Port Protests

Eleven adivasi residents of Torsa Tea Garden were arrested on Tuesday for protesting against the construction of a land port at the India-Bhutan border.

The arrests followed an FIR registered on November 3 by an LPAI Junior Engineer after locals maintained a peaceful dharna demanding rehabilitation for 100 days.

Union body PBCMS condemned the police action and arrests, demanding the immediate release of all detained individuals and an end to evictions.
