THE BRIEF

Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport suspended operations until 1:30pm local time on Sunday due to volcanic ash detected from the erupting Mount Anak Krakatau.

2

The volcano, located over 150km away, began erupting late Friday, with ash plumes reaching heights of 6,000 to 15,000 metres across Java and Sumatra provinces.

The suspension affected 33 flights on Saturday, including 16 international cancellations, as authorities prioritize safety against engine damage and visibility hazards caused by the ash.
