IIT Graduate Reflects on Career Struggles Post-UPSC

An IIT-BHU graduate shared his experience of being insulted during a 2019 job interview for a data analyst role paying ₹40,000 per month after quitting UPSC preparation.

The graduate, who finished his degree in 2016, noted that the media focuses on the top 1% of IITians while ignoring the majority who build stable, non-glamorous careers.

He currently works as a software engineer in New York City, earning in the top 2% of US income, and argues that entrance exams like the JEE should not define lifelong limits.
