The Bombay High Court overturned a Maharashtra FDA order that had cancelled Cipla’s wholesale drug licences for its Wadki, Pune distribution hub, citing high-handed and procedurally unfair conduct.
The FDA had issued a cancellation order on August 26, a public holiday, after Cipla requested an adjournment regarding alleged packaging irregularities involving the drug 'Reactin Plus'.
Following the court's reprimand, the state government agreed to withdraw the cancellation immediately and must serve a fresh notice to the company before September 4, 2026.
