Emonnie Branch, 51, was taken into custody in Louisville's West End area on Monday afternoon for the fatal shooting of Kentucky State Trooper Hayden Phillips in Warren County.
Branch fled the scene on a I-65 traffic stop in a Honda Civic after allegedly shooting Trooper Phillips, prompting a Kentucky State Police Blue Alert that was later cancelled.
Kentucky State Police confirmed the death of Trooper Phillips, who was assigned to Post 3 Bowling Green, while investigations into the shooting motive remain ongoing.
