President Donald Trump announced that the United States will not resume military strikes on Iran prior to the November 3 midterm elections.
The decision follows a collapsed interim ceasefire agreement signed in June between the U.S. and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian amid Strait of Hormuz disputes.
Trump noted ongoing indirect negotiations through special envoy Steve Witkoff while emphasizing that U.S. forces are successfully securing oil tanker routes.
