Indonesia Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 53 Amid Evacuations

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake in eastern Indonesia has killed at least 53 people and injured over 130, triggering the evacuation of 5,000 residents.

The quake, which struck Flores island on Saturday, was followed by 341 aftershocks that hampered rescue efforts and damaged more than 1,300 homes.

Over 3,500 military and police personnel have been deployed to the region, where survivors in Sikka are currently sheltering in tents due to power outages and blocked roads.
