Karnataka government grants Tulu second official language status

The Karnataka Cabinet decided to grant Tulu second official language status for administrative purposes in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

The government allocated ₹82 lakh annually for language training and usage, while also proposing to rename Dakshina Kannada district as Mangaluru.

The Cabinet approved in-principle plans to upgrade the Mangaluru Fisheries College into a university, earmarking ₹11 crore for the transformation.
