West Bengal CM Orders Fresh Probe Into R.G. Kar Case

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a fresh investigation under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952, into the August 9, 2024, rape and murder of a doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College.

The CM directed the Commissioner of Police, Barrackpore, to probe the unauthorized cremation of the victim's body, which allegedly involved former Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Ghosh.

While a former civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, is currently serving a life sentence for the crime, the victim's family continues to demand a broader investigation into other potential suspects.
