Dhinidhi Desinghu won the bronze medal in the 100m freestyle final at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, becoming the first Indian swimmer to win a medal at the event.
The 16-year-old clocked a national record time of 56.27 seconds, bettering her previous mark of 56.57s set in June at the Senior National Championships.
Croatia's Ana Bobanovic and New Zealand's Alyssa Lawson secured the gold and silver medals respectively in the final.
