An unusually powerful autumn storm battered the northeastern United States on Saturday with heavy rain and strong winds, forcing hundreds of flight cancellations and leaving tens of thousands without power.
More than 95,000 customers across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania lacked power by Saturday afternoon, while New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani warned residents against non-essential travel.
The storm forced the cancellation of major cultural events, including the Global Citizen and All Things Go festivals in New York and Oceans Calling in Maryland, alongside Ed Sheeran's Boston-area concerts.
