Karnataka Cabinet Withdraws Controversial Parks Amendment Bill

The Karnataka Cabinet withdrew the Parks Bill on Thursday following widespread protests from environmental activists and residents concerned about the potential loss of green spaces.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara stated the government will place the bill in the public domain for discussion before reintroducing it in a different form during the next Assembly session.

The original bill, passed on August 24 without debate, sought to allow the alienation of up to 5 percent of park land for infrastructure projects like tunnel roads and parking.
