Nepal Flash Floods Trap 933 Workers in Hydropower Projects

At least 933 workers remain trapped across six hydropower projects in Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides that began on August 19, 2026.

The disaster has claimed 797 lives in Nepal and Tibet, with 2,502 people still missing as authorities struggle to manage the recovery and identification of 250 bodies in Chitwan.

China has provided $2.2 million in financial assistance to Nepal, including a direct payment of NPR 350 million and $200,000 through the Chinese Red Cross to support relief efforts.
