Baranica Elangovan won India's first-ever pole vault medal at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, clearing 4.15m to claim bronze.
She is the first Indian athlete to achieve a pole vault medal across the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Olympics combined.
Her performance follows a successful year of training at the Reliance Foundation High Performance Centre after recovering from a 2020 ACL injury.
