Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Thursday that the bilateral trade agreement with the US will be finalized once Washington offers competitive preferential tariff rates.
The proposed deal, initially announced in February 2026, aims to reduce US tariffs on India to 18 percent, following previous counter-tariffs and a 10 percent levy imposed on July 24.
Goyal is scheduled to visit the US in late September for the G20 Trade Ministerial in Milwaukee to hold further negotiations with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
