Meta Faces Parliamentary Panel Over PM Modi Video Removal

Meta officials appeared before a parliamentary standing committee on August 3, 2026, expressing regret and readiness to apologize for restricting a Facebook post by PM Narendra Modi.

The committee, chaired by Nishikant Dubey, questioned Meta on algorithmic bias and the lack of accountability regarding the removal of the Prime Minister's video message.

Government officials from MeitY and the Home Ministry attended the meeting, where some members demanded legal action against the platform for failing to follow Indian laws.
