Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivors Face Elevated Long-Term Mortality Risk

A study of 20,057 Hodgkin lymphoma survivors published in JAMA Network Open found a standardized mortality ratio of 1.96 compared to the general U.S. population.

While lymphoma recurrence is a factor, the largest number of excess deaths among survivors were attributed to noncancer and cardiovascular conditions rather than the original malignancy.

The cumulative all-cause mortality rate for survivors reached 8.0% at 10 years and 15.0% at 15 years, highlighting the need for integrated survivorship care beyond standard cancer surveillance.
