Federal prosecutors in California indicted Mexican engineer Luis Manuel Hernandez Victoria for allegedly designing a sophisticated drug tunnel for the CJNG cartel.
The underground passage, discovered on May 29 beneath a San Diego retail store, spanned 1,933 feet to Tijuana and was equipped with reinforced walls and ventilation.
Authorities seized over one ton of cocaine valued at $45 million during the tunnel discovery, while Hernandez was reportedly arrested in Jalisco on October 15.
