Somya Ranjan Sahoo, a 19-year-old son of a daily-wage labourer, secured admission to SCB Medical College after receiving ₹55,000 in public donations.
Sahoo, who achieved an All-India Rank of 21,051 in NEET-UG with 574 marks, previously faced a funding crisis for the ₹40,000 admission and counselling fees.
While the immediate financial hurdle is cleared, Sahoo estimates the total cost for his four-and-a-half-year medical course will reach approximately ₹2 lakh.
