A 55-year-old tea stall owner attempted suicide by setting himself on fire inside a police station premises in Bheemgal town on Monday.
Police personnel and bystanders extinguished the flames, and the man was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police attributed the distress to a rivalry with a grocery shop owner who sent reporters to threaten him after he stopped buying cigarettes.
