Jamia Millia Islamia suspended a PhD student for five days from September 28 to October 2 for allegedly participating in an unauthorised canteen gathering and inciting indiscipline.
The Chief Proctor's notice stated the protest disrupted routine academic functioning and affected teaching and research activities in nearby classrooms and laboratories.
The All India Students' Association condemned the suspension, demanding its immediate revocation and citing concerns raised over hostel accommodation and living conditions.
