Paramilitary forces deployed in industrial suburbs around Dhaka as Bangladesh garment sector workers defied calls to return to factories, continuing wage protests into their fourth day on Tuesday.
Demonstrators demanded a minimum monthly wage of 30,000 taka, a 140% increase from 12,500 taka, citing 8% inflation and soaring living costs in the country.
Police reported 58 officers injured and filed cases against thousands of protesters after clashes broke out, while Dhaka police arrested 33 people linked to the banned Awami League.
