The Delhi High Court directed the makers of the film Doosra to add a disclaimer and furnish a ₹2 crore bank guarantee in response to a personality rights lawsuit filed by Sourav Ganguly.
Ganguly and Luv Films LLP alleged that the film commercially exploited his identity, personality, and iconic cricketing moments without authorization, specifically objecting to scenes featuring the 2002 NatWest Series final.
The filmmakers defended that Doosra is a fictional story about a young girl inspired by the cricketer and that they obtained necessary permissions from the BCCI and ECB to use match footage.
