Indonesia begins operation to right capsized ship as 129 remain missing

Indonesia started an operation to right the passenger ship Virgo Transport 8 that sank in the Java Sea, as 129 people remained missing after it capsized on Sunday.

Rescue operations were previously hampered for five days due to strong currents, large waves, and strong winds, leaving six dead and 108 survivors.

The salvage operation will be led by the ship's owner under Indonesian law, with the rescue agency, navy, and maritime police pulling the vessel to a shallower seabed.
