Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay convened an all-party meeting on Saturday at Chennai's Kalaivanar Arangam to oppose the proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill on delimitation.
The meeting, attended by 19 of the state's 57 MPs, resolved to demand that the total number of Lok Sabha seats remain frozen at the current 543.
Participants agreed to push for a formal resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly to protect the state's existing 39 Lok Sabha seats against potential population-based increases.
