Andy Burnham Announces Major School Curriculum Shake-up

Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a curriculum reform in England starting September 2028, aiming to prioritize technical education alongside academic subjects to reduce youth unemployment.

The initiative will be supported by a £570m investment for college places and a £4.7bn boost to school funding, allowing students to pursue technical pathways starting at age 14.

Schools will be measured on the quality of technical training provided, with the government encouraging local mayors and employers to collaborate on industry-specific gateways like construction and technology.
