Activist Sonam Wangchuk and his wife Gitanjali J Angmo criticised the Ladakh administration's high court affidavit defending the cancellation of land allotment to the Himalayan Institute of Alternative Learning.
Wangchuk shared a February 2021 official letter acknowledging that execution of the lease deed was delayed pending the finalisation of a new lease policy across the union territory.
The Ladakh administration's affidavit stated that the 40-year lease for land at Phyang Thang had lapsed by law in May 2019 because HIAL failed to pay mandatory dues or execute the deed.
