Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Surpasses 3,500 Cases

Confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo have reached 3,532, with 1,556 deaths reported across five eastern provinces as of Friday.

Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya described the situation as the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak ever recorded, noting that 807 patients are currently receiving hospital care.

Response efforts face critical constraints including funding shortages, insecurity, and limited contact tracing, despite improvements in laboratory testing capacity which now handles over 3,000 samples daily.
