The Odisha government surrendered ₹76 crore allocated for police station CCTV surveillance after 823 cameras across the state remained non-functional as of September 17.
Additional DGP Sanjay Kumar noted that 795 cameras in police stations and 33 in outposts were offline, defying Supreme Court mandates requiring continuous transparency and surveillance.
The failure stems from installation and maintenance lapses involving systems integrator Krystal Integrated Services and KELTRON despite prior judicial scrutiny and administrative warnings.
