A seven-to eight-month-old Royal Bengal tiger cub was rescued from an unoccupied house in an Odisha village within the Mayurbhanj district on Friday after heavy rain drove it out of the forest.
The cub had been moving around Khaparkhai village under the Thakurmunda forest range near the Similipal Tiger Reserve since Thursday night, causing panic among local residents.
A senior forest rescue team safely secured the animal using nets and a transport cage around noon, and the cub is undergoing veterinary treatment before planned rehabilitation.
