World No. 9 Ben Shelton defeated fellow American Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 in a three-hour and 17-minute semi-final match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday.
Shelton hammered 20 aces and 47 winners, reaching his first career Grand Slam final where he aims to become the first American man to win a Major since Andy Roddick in 2003.
In Sunday's final, Shelton will face top seed Alexander Zverev, who advanced by defeating Karen Khachanov in straight sets.
