Punjab bandh on August 21 disrupts transport services across state

The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha observed a Punjab bandh on Friday, August 21, 2026, suspending business, transport, road, and rail services from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The bandh was called to protest police action and demand the release of Sikh prisoners, receiving support from major organisations including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha.

While government schools remained open under orders from Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, many private schools and colleges in Mohali, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patiala declared a holiday.
