Regulator warns against indiscriminate use of painkillers, antibiotics

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) warned against the indiscriminate use of painkillers and antibiotics due to risks of chronic kidney disease.

NSAIDs and antibiotics are prescription-only drugs, and the CDSCO urged healthcare professionals to follow antimicrobial stewardship principles.

The public is advised against self-medication, and individuals with pre-existing kidney issues should inform their doctors before taking NSAIDs.
