Punjab student protests escalate over alleged LPU rape claim

Protests over an alleged rape claim at Lovely Professional University escalated as students blocked the Phagwara-Jalandhar stretch of National Highway 44 on the second day.

Demonstrators pelted stones, vandalized vehicles, and set a Punjab police vehicle on fire, resulting in injuries to several police personnel.

Police registered an FIR, formed a special investigation team to examine surveillance and forensic evidence, and noted that no corroborating evidence has been found so far.
