Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Reaches 2,500 Deaths

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has resulted in over 2,500 deaths, with half of these fatalities occurring in the last three weeks.

UN experts report approximately 5,000 recorded cases across six provinces, noting that the Bundibugyo strain is spreading exponentially since the outbreak began on May 15.

Health teams are conducting mandatory screenings at river ports like Bende-Bende to prevent the virus from reaching Kinshasa, a city of nearly 17 million people.
