India and Uzbekistan Elevate Ties to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and set a $5 billion annual trade target by 2030.

The two nations signed 11 agreements covering mining, tourism, and civil nuclear energy, including a framework for the long-term supply of Uranium from Uzbekistan to India.

Both leaders announced a $1 million grant for Aral Sea afforestation and a digital payment pact enabling Indian UPI apps to scan Uzbekistan’s national QR codes for merchant transactions.
