INDIA Bloc Announces Odisha Bandh on October 8

Opposition parties in Odisha announced a State-wide bandh on October 8, 2026, demanding the repeal of the MMDR Amendment Act, 2026, and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The announcement followed a demonstration in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly by the Congress, Left parties, and other INDIA bloc constituents.

Protesters also demanded the resignation of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond over textbook mistakes and immediate relief for flood victims.
