Dr Gagandeep Singh cautioned that breakfast foods perceived as healthy, such as fruit juices, brown bread, and oats, can still cause significant blood sugar spikes due to refined carbohydrates and missing fiber.
Juicing fruits removes beneficial fiber, causing fruit sugar to enter the bloodstream rapidly, while multigrain and brown breads are made from finely ground flour that acts similarly to white bread.
Dr Singh advises that meals should prioritize whole fruits, proteins, vegetables, and healthy fats while treating refined carbohydrate items as small components rather than primary ingredients.
